Real Sociedad would like to sign Mikel Merino. As reported by ‘Mundo Deportivo’, the Basques have started talks with the midfielder to negotiate an extension of the contract. The current working paper for the Spanish international runs until 2025. The newspaper also reports that La Real want the extension with one of the most important performers as “pointer” for other stars and talents in the club to convince them to stay long-term.
Merino joined San Sebastián from Newcastle United in 2018. The left foot is one of the undisputed regular players in the Europa League participants and has already contributed to seven goals in 14 league appearances this season. The 26-year-old is known in the Bundesliga from his time at Borussia Dortmund, where he spent an unlucky year in the 16/17 season.
