In the JVM, Finland got revenge after their lackluster start to the tournament. In the second match, the Junior Lions had no problem defeating Slovakia. Both Joakim Kemell and Oliver Kapanen in the first chain accounted for 1+1 in points.

Finland’s junior national ice hockey team got off to a miserable start to their JVM tournament. Monday’s premiere ended in a 2-3 shock loss against Switzerland.

In the second game against Slovakia, it was a reborn Junior Lions team that had no problem securing three points. The final score was 5–2.

Finland was active and initiative-taking right from the drop. Despite blue-white dominance, the first period ended 1–1. Sami Päivärinta gave Finland the lead with 1–0 and Peter Repcik equalized late to make it 1–1 in the powerplay.

In the second period, Finland got a reward in the space of just over ten minutes when 1–1 turned into 4–1. The poster name Joakim Kemell, who was thirteenth forward in the premiere, got the chance in the first chain which delivered nice goals.

Kemell gave Finland the lead with 2–1 by firing in a shot, first center Oliver Kapanen extended the lead to 3–1 and second chain Jani Nyman’s direct shot in the power play made it 4–1.
