The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mohamed Abdelhafid Henni, confirmed today, Tuesday February 21, 2023, that red meat will be marketed, from the first week of next March through the national market, at the price of 1200 dinars per kilogram. And this during a statement to the press on the sidelines of his work and inspection visit to the wilaya of M’sila.

Mohamed Abdelhafid Henni added that with regard to white meat, measures have been taken in coordination with an institution affiliated to the sector, represented by the National Office for Livestock Feeding (ONAB). In order to supply it at the price of 350 dinars per kilogram, with the opening of 400 points of sale across the country.

The first manager of the agricultural sector in Algeria confirmed that meat sales points will be distributed at the level of all the communes of the country. The amount of milk production will also be increased to achieve comfort in this aspect.

To conclude, the Minister of Agriculture, Mohamed Abdelhafid Henni reassured about the abundance of vegetables and fruits, despite the high prices of certain seasonal products for fruits and non-seasonal for vegetables.

Towards the gradual modernization of the agricultural sector in Algeria

During this same visit to the wilaya of M’Sila, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mohamed Abdelhafid Henni affirmed that the efforts of his department are directed towards the organization and the progressive modernization of the agricultural sector through implementation of a strategy aimed at ensuring self-sufficiency and food security.

The Minister stressed that the services of his ministerial department are working to consolidate the bases of the agricultural sector in application of the directives of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune by consolidating food security which is a matter of national security, affirming that the efforts of the State are continuing to gradually organize the sector.

Henni said that thanks to the measures taken, the national agricultural needs have been met at 75% in 27 agricultural sectors, adding: “we have as a priority met the demand at 100% for wheat and barley by supporting farmers and breeders and the work continues to ensure soft wheat by the players in the sector”.
