It was in August last year that the police raided a farm outside Gävle where they had extensive cannabis cultivation. According to the indictment, they must have produced at least 22 kilos of cannabis.
“Self caused the deprivation of liberty”
Three men were sentenced by the district court to prison for serious drug offences. The woman was acquitted, however, because the Gävle district court did not consider that she participated in the activity.
The woman recently requested compensation from the state for the four months she was detained. But the Chancellor of Justice, JK, who handles such cases, denies her compensation. JK believes that the woman herself put herself in a situation where there was an imminent risk of being suspected of serious crime and therefore herself caused the deprivation of liberty.
