“We send our sympathy to those families who have lost a loved one during this severe heat in Ohio. So far, four Ohioans have died and many more have been injured as a result of temperature-related accidents. Road conditions remain very dangerous throughout the state, snowfall and extremely cold temperatures continue. Please stay home if possible and keep an eye out for these extremely dangerous conditions.”

This Friday, four people died and many more were injured in a pileup of at least 46 cars on the Turnpike in Ohio.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said the temperature was the cause of the accident.

Officials used buses to transfer stranded travelers to shelters so they could be safe.

The Turnpike also known as Interstate 80 is closed in both directions for a stretch of 20 miles.

Crews are working to get 15 commercial vehicles off the Interstate.
