With a strong start to the second half of the season, FC St. Pauli was able to escape the swamp of relegation. The Kiezkicker have won all four games since the World Cup break – eighth place, nine points ahead of the relegation place.
One of the most important players in Hamburg is once again Jakov Medic. The 24-year-old is not only the Paulians’ defense chief, but has also appeared as a double goal scorer in recent weeks. Of course, this also attracts the attention of other clubs.
St. Pauli ready for sale
VfB Stuttgart already showed interest in the Croatian 1.93 meter giant last summer, but St. Pauli didn’t want to let the top performer go. After the end of the season, the second division is probably powerless: Medic’s contract expires in 2024 and the Kiezkicker cannot do without the transfer fee that is due. As the ‘Sport Bild’ reports, three clubs are currently showing interest in the Croatian.
On the one hand there is VfB, who stayed with Medic beyond the summer. On the other hand, FSV Mainz 05 and VfL Bochum have also started playing poker for the 24-year-old. So it’s quite possible that Medic will be in the first division in the coming season.
