The Premier League is of course an incredibly important component to the success of EA’s upcoming soccer game (which no longer has FIFA in the title since the license was terminated). In a new report from Sky Sports, we have clear proof of this as it states that EA is working on a £488 million (around SEK 6.2 billion) deal with the British Football League to continue as a leading partner and also have the the official video game licensee.

According to the report, this deal would bring in around £80m a year and is valued at around double the original agreement between the two parties. It also appears that the Premier League is using this particular deal as an example of its commercial strength as the biggest financial league in world football, and is using it as leverage to convince rival teams to stick with it instead of favoring the embattled European Super League which has long been discussed.

This comes at the same time as EA has also secured exclusive naming rights for La Liga to the upcoming EA Sports FC, further cementing the title as the premier for official and licensed football products.
