Victoria City.- A situation of calm exists in Tamaulipas before the end of the migrant policy of Title 42 in the United States, as stated by the Secretary of Public Security, General Sergio Chávez García.
It was indicated that elements of the State Guard were sent to Reynosa and Matamoros to initiate the so-called “Operation Mirror”, in coordination with US authorities in order to contain demonstrations and attend to migrants.
However, he did not specify the number of officers who were sent to this area.
The head of Security indicated that the protection of migrants is not the only mission assigned to the agents, since they must guarantee security in the communication routes, businesses and homes of those Municipalities.
The state command pointed out that there is a difficult situation due to the end of the immigration policy that leads to mass expulsions of migrants who are waiting for the humanitarian visa process in the United States.
“We know that it is a difficult situation, they are far from their homes. Here a migrant that we detect is a migrant that we rescue and we try to collaborate with them so that their lives are not so difficult.”
