Over the past century, more than 50 ships and 20 planes in the so-called Bermuda Triangle. An Australian researcher claims to have found the solution. But – spoiler alert – it has nothing to do with conspiracy theories.

The Australian scientist Karl Kruszelnicki and the US Weather Administration NOAA do not believe in the supernatural reputation of the area between Florida, Bermuda and the Greater Antilles. Both argue with probabilities.

Statistically not significant

The NOAA already gave 2010 states that “there is no evidence that mysterious disappearance occur more frequently in the Bermuda Triangle than in other heavily traveled areas of the ocean.” According to Kruszelnicki, this shows sheer volume of trafficthat “the percentage of ships and planes lost in the Bermuda Triangle is the same as anywhere in the world”.

According to the NAOO, navigation in the area is also difficult. There are violent ones weather changes and evidence that magnetic compasses point to the “true” North Pole rather than the wandering one magnetic north pole show. There are also many islands and shallow water in the area, which can be treacherous for ships.

“Numbers Don’t Lie”

Kruszelnicki has been clarifying for years that nothing supernatural takes place in the Bermuda Triangle. In interviews from the years 2017, 2022 or 2023 he always gives the same reason: “The numbers don’t lie”.

Also sensational cases like “Flight 19“, at which in 1945 5 Torpedobomber of the US Navy disappeared off the east coast of Florida, Kruszelnicki explains with a combination of bad weather and human mistakes. However, the explanation is less spectacular than conspiracy theories about sea monsters, aliens or Atlantis.
