Mexico City.- For the second day in a row, a group of around 120 Pemex resident doctors demonstrate in front of the Executive Tower of the State productive company, demanding full payment of their Christmas bonus.

Shouting “It’s a bonus, not a tip!”, the protesters took to the streets again after they held a meeting with authorities from the Secretaries of the Interior (Segob) and Labor and Social Welfare (STPS) without reaching agreements.

The protesters blocked both directions of the Marina Nacional since 1:00 p.m. this Friday, as they cut off traffic between Lake Pátzcuaro and Laguna de Mayran, as well as the section between Bahía de San Hipólito and Bahía Banderas in the Verónica Anzures neighborhood of the Miguel Mayor’s Office Gentleman.

The dissatisfied doctors affirm that they will maintain the demonstration until they are received by Pemex authorities, who were also not present at the meeting that took place in Segob.

By way of protest, they installed a clothesline with their robes and a Christmas tree with some messages addressed to the authorities of the State productive company.

“Pemex stole Christmas from us” and “My Christmas wish is a fair Christmas bonus”, were some signs on the pine tree and the boxes wrapped as gifts.

They also painted phrases like “Pemex steals” on the floor with chalk and chanted slogans like “It’s a Christmas bonus, not a tip!” ” and “AMLO listen!”.

According to the resident doctors, on December 15 they were paid 2,500 pesos as a bonus, when in past years the figure ranged from 12 to 14,000 pesos.

According to reports from the National Front of Resident Doctors of Pemex, an official from the state production company broke off the dialogue that had been going on for 11 hours, following instructions from President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

The protesters left Azcapotzalco before noon.

In the morning, some Pemex resident doctors demonstrated outside the Villahermosa Military Base, Tabasco, where the President offered his morning conference.

They accused lack of contract for 50 residents at the Pemex Regional Hospital in Villahermosa, but said that the damages due to incomplete Christmas bonus payments were for 800 of their colleagues nationwide.

Yesterday, López Obrador was questioned at his press conference from Chetumal, Quintana Roo, and said that the case would be dealt with, according to a brief response by the Secretary of the Interior, Adán Augusto López.
