A new Resident Evil 4 Remake patch is live. While it fixes a huge bug for some, it also removes a much-used trick for others.

Capcom can breathe because the company has succeeded in its bet with Resident Evil 4 Remake. But despite the success, the game is not free from flaws that nevertheless gradually disappear. With the latest update 1.005, the developers are unlocking progress for some players, but also severely slowing speedrunners.

Important changes for RE4 Remake

Like all modern games, Resident Evil 4 Remake was launched with some bugs. And like all games today, these few problems are eliminated with updates. The version 1.005 of RE4 Remake brings a fix for a bug blocking player progress. “The issue where player progression through the storyline was blocked due to inaccessible key objects has been fixed” can we read in the patch notes. On Xbox Series X|S consoles, Resident Evil 4 Remake could also refuse to launch if DLC was installed under an account with certain content restrictions.

But the biggest change in this update will greatly disappoint speedrunners. Indeed, the teams have removed the glitch that allowed to save time by using the scope of a rifle in certain areas. The church sequence, where you can destroy medallions in the graveyard, was one of them. If you don’t see what it’s all about, the video below will tell you more. From then on, speedrunners will have to find other ways to complete Resident Evil 4 Remake in record time, or avoid updating it.

Other patches improve the graphics on Xbox Series consoles or even the “dead zone” of the controller. The deadband affects the actions you perform with the joystick and how they are recorded. A setting that adjusts the distance before a move is taken into account.
