Residents in Pueblo de Palmas are tired of being left without service by Agua SUD

Residents of Pueblo de Palmas are upset and it is not for less. The problems with the water supply and the alleged lack of communication informing that the water had to be boiled keeps an entire community upset.

Some of them say that the problem of running out of water is desperate, but their biggest discontent is that the authorities did not go to warn them of the situation in time. “Now we have to go to Walmart to buy water. Why? Because Juniors closed us. That’s the only big store we have here. There are many people who don’t have a car, who ride bicycles. So there are many things. Let us know,” denounced Betty Mejía, a resident of Pueblo de Palmas.

This Monday, June 26, Agua SUD informed through a press release that its clients had to boil the water before consuming it. This recommendation is specifically for customers who live in the area that includes Jarachinas streets with Tom Gill and Mile 4 with Mile 7.

Children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to harmful bacteria and all customers should follow these instructions.

This Wednesday, more than 30 people gathered in a community park because they are tired of having their water supply cut off. “An accident or a fire do not expect anything to be saved because there is no pressure. There is no water,” denounced a resident of Pueblo de Palmas.

Another resident of the place, María Adonis, denounced that the stores have been closed due to the lack of water. “It’s a basic thing for humanity. We need to have water. They can’t cut it off whenever they want,” she said.

For their part, residents assure that there are several weeks with the same problem and both homes and businesses have been affected.

“I understand that it is a health risk to use water that we do not know if it is good or not. I went to speak with Agua SUD and they told me that they have several projects but they do not have when,” said Laura Hernández.

For now, they are looking for answers and solutions to a problem that seems to have no end. In the meantime, the county expects to speak with residents in the coming days to clarify the situation.
