This year’s season of Farmen celebrity is well under way and the game is intense for several participants.

For potentially six weeks, the participants will run the farm as if it were 1923. In the meantime, you risk ending up in duels, and with that, being kicked out of the competition.

In order to get as far as possible in the program, several people have devised a strategy. Now actor Aslak Maurstad (30) can reveal a lie he told to avoid being chosen as a giant.

– A game of bluff

Maurstad believes that it does not pay to be honest in a game like Farmen celebrity.

– It is a bluff game we are involved in. A game where lying is a very important strategy that one must use. To the extent that it is a lie – I will not call it a lie, he says to TV 2 and continues:

– I would say that everything you do in there is a game, and everyone agrees that it is part of the rules.

It’s no secret that lying is a frequently used strategy in the Farm universe.

Some omit to tell details that may benefit them. Others lie about qualities they don’t have, which can help make them look like they’re harder to beat.

– You break agreements in there, but that doesn’t count. It doesn’t really say anything about your character, says the actor.

Lie on the scale

Maurstad entered Steinsjøen farm with a clear strategy.

– There were certain things I faked, and certain things that I pretended I couldn’t or couldn’t do. I reckon everyone else did. It would be putting yourself in a very bad competitive position if you didn’t do that, says the 30-year-old.

During his stay, he and Aleksander Sæterstøl (27) became close friends. Maurstad reveals that he told a white lie even to his friend.

He says that he was probably the thinnest on the farm, which can be a disadvantage in a competitive situation. In some dueling disciplines, strength is a crucial attribute.

– I weigh 58 kilos, and when I was inside the Farm I thought I had to lie about a few kilos. So I kept saying I weighed 67 kilos, he admits.

But one person who actually weighed this weight, it was Sæterstøl.

– So when you said you weighed 67 kilos, I said: “Me and! We weigh the same!”. And then I thought: “Now no one needs to question that.” Now that’s just an established truth in there.

Dropped one strategy

Maurstad got away with the lie. But there was one more strategy he considered using. However, he quickly dropped it.

– One strategy I considered, which I rejected quite quickly, was to say that I am a woman. Because then it will be a women’s match, and then I have a huge advantage, he says.

If two of the same sex compete against each other, there are often physical duels. If it is a woman against a man, the duel is usually gender neutral. Maurstad therefore believes that he would have had an advantage if he had ended up in a woman-against-woman fight.

– At the same time, it is very unethical, so I rejected it straight away. I don’t feel like a woman, and it’s actually undermining the struggle of all those who feel like they were born in the wrong body, like that, says Maurstad.

The farm celebrity do you see Tuesdays at 21:40, Wednesdays and Sundays at 20, and when you want on TV 2 Play.
