LONDON – British actor Richard Madden (“Game Of Thrones”) no longer wants to talk about speculation that he could be the next James Bond actor. “I think the rumor mill has been cooking for a while now,” said the 36-year-old of the German Press Agency in London. “It’s completely out of my control now. I think I’ve said enough about that.”
Background: In the new thriller series “Citadel”, which runs on the streaming service Amazon Prime, Madden plays a cool secret agent. The James Bond producers want to recast the role of 007 after the departure of Daniel Craig. Although the search hasn’t started yet, according to producer Barbara Broccoli, Madden has been repeatedly cited as a candidate in the British media.
The actor, who is Scottish like the original Bond Sean Connery, would probably not be completely averse.
