The people of Montpellier from DigixArt aren’t done with Road 96 and have a big reveal for us today.
Road 96: Miles 0 is unveiled and dated in stride
For two years, the studio worked hard to offer Road 96: Mile 0, a prequel to the game released in the summer of 2021. In this new narrative adventure, the developers wanted to dig into the character of Zoe and tell her origins in particular, before the summer 1996 road trip.
The action takes place in White Sands, the wealthy community of Petria, and will feature two protagonists. Zoe that players already know, and Kaito that some will recognize since he is one of the heroes of Lost in Harmony, another DigixArt game.
Kaito was born on the dark and dangerous side of Colton City and moved with his parents to White Sands with the goal of finding work and escaping the pollution present in town. Explore the inner worlds of both characters. Although the narrative aspect remains the central element of Road 96: Mile 0, Zoe and Kaito will skate through psychedelic musical passages. These imaginary excursions are a unique blend of rhythm play and narrative choices, allowing players to influence and shape their emotional journey.
Yoan Fanise, CEO of DigixArt, tells us more:
In Mile 0, we wanted to show where Zoe came from, as well as the reasons that pushed her to leave her comfortable life. However, we didn’t want to do it in a conventional way, we opted for a more delirious way, with musical sequences full of metaphors, in which you go through Zoe and Kaito’s convictions and doubts. Funny thing is, YOU decide how you want them to evolve.

This song is about the paradox of coming home. Even if it is the place where you grew up and everything around you proves it to you, there comes a time when you feel like you are no longer at home. Eventually, you feel like you have to get away from this place or you have to stay there and continue a story that is no longer yours. We’re excited to see this title come to life in Road 96: Mile 0.
