Unknowns lure two men into an Essen apartment, hold a gun in front of them and rob them. This is how the perpetrators are described.
An unknown man used a pretext to lure a father and his son into an apartment in Altenessen and robbed them together with another perpetrator. The police are investigating aggravated robbery and are looking for witnesses.
A 57-year-old was a guest at a restaurant on Vogelheimer Strasse on Saturday afternoon (May 6) with his 29-year-old son. As the two left the bar, they were approached by an unidentified man, according to the police report. After an extensive conversation in Arabic, the stranger is said to have invited the two to his supposed apartment in an apartment building on Meinertstrasse – under the pretext of wanting to continue the conversation there. When the three men arrived at the apartment, the unidentified man went into another room and shortly afterwards came out with another man.
Perpetrators threaten their victims with weapons in Altenessen
With a suspected firearm and an electro-stimulator, they demanded their victims’ mobile phones. A physical altercation then ensued, in which the 57-year-old and the 29-year-old were injured. Both fled the apartment building and asked witnesses to call the police. The police received the call around 2:50 p.m.
The strangers escaped unnoticed, one of them fled in the direction of Palmbuschweg. The perpetrators initially stole a mobile phone and the car keys of the two victims. However, the items were found near the crime scene.
The Essen police are asking for witnesses after the robbery
The suspects were described as being in their 30s to 40s with an Arab appearance. One was 1.85 meters tall, had a strong build and wore a gray hoodie and black sweatpants. The other is about 1.75 meters tall, wears a three-day beard and has a graze on his right cheek. He wore a black baseball cap, a black sweater, black trousers and a black backpack.
The crime scene was searched by the criminal investigation service. Traces were extensively secured. The two strangers are being investigated for aggravated robbery. The police are now urgently looking for witnesses to the crime. Anyone with information is asked to call the Essen police on 0201 82 90.
