“I think it is an example of the criminalization of politics. I don’t think this is good for the country“said the governor of Florida.
In addition, DeSantis questioned the fact that the RICO law is wanted to be applied to the case against Trump.
“I think there are criminals who have been released who should not be free. And now they are using an exorbitant amount of resources to turn the 2020 election case into a RICO case, which was designed to go after organized crime.DeSantis detailed.
According to information from The Hill, the federal RICO law was created in 1970 and was designed to help federal agencies fight organized crime.
The scope of this law in the state of Georgia is broader, and people found guilty under this legislation can be sentenced to between five and 20 years in prison.and carry fines of up to $25,000.
The indictment followed an investigation by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis.
