Playa del Carmen celebrates its 30th anniversary as a tourist destination

With a solemn town hall session followed by a concert by singers Emmanuel and Mijares, the 30th anniversary of the municipality of Solidaridad was celebrated last Friday night. The 28 de Julio civic square was the setting for this event, which was attended by Governor Mara Lezama, as well as state and municipal authorities.

Before the members of the council and the municipal president Lili Campos, Judith Ramos, on behalf of the founders of Solidaridad, recognized the legacy of all those families that were and are part of the history of this municipality. “Its beaches, sand and turquoise sea are the characteristics that make thousands of tourists visit it annually. Let’s continue working and improving our municipality,” said the young speaker.

Subsequently, the mayor Lili Campos recognized the importance of all those who forged the foundations for Solidaridad, which today celebrates its 30th anniversary. «We are all here to form families, a home and fight for a better future. We all have a leading place in the history of Solidarity. Working hand in hand with the federal and state governments, the private initiative and all citizens, the dreams of all of us who live here come true,” said Campos.

For her part, Governor Mara Lezama congratulated the Solidarenses for this 30th anniversary and praised “the extraordinary future that awaits Solidaridad.” She recalled that there are some social inequities that must be faced in the future, but “the growth forecasts for this area are extraordinary,” said the state president.

After the session, the attendees enjoyed the concert by the singers Emmanuel and Mijares, who performed the best of their repertoire and put the thousands of Solidarenses who gathered in the square to sing.
