Ronneby is the municipality that received the most refugees in terms of population during the refugee crisis in 2015 and beyond. Since 2020, the state has paid out a special state grant as compensation, to help the municipalities adapt their operations and manage the increased costs.

But today Finance Minister Elisabeth Svantesson (M) announced that the subsidy will be halved, reports Today’s society.

– We make the assessment that the need for this money is not that great, she said during this morning’s budget presentation.

The Swedish Migration Agency has already paid out SEK 100 million during the spring, and there will be no more.

Last year, Ronneby municipality received 10.2 million – the most of all municipalities in Sweden.

SVT Nyheter Blekinge is looking for a representative for the municipality.
