Joshua Ortega is not as well-known as Cliff Bleszinski, but still played a decisive role in the creation of the giant phenomenon Gears of War. He wrote the story for Gears of War 2, helped create both the story and the narrative course design for Gears of War 3 and also wrote comic books based on Gears of War.
And now it seems he’s back working on the series again. All of a sudden, Ortega re-tweeted an old post about his Gears of War credits while adding: “Once again it’s on!”. While it seems obvious what he means, there is no official confirmation, and when a fan asked him if he is “back with Gears?”, answered Ortega “Hmm… ⚡️⚡️⚡️” – meaning he didn’t deny it.
Gears 6 was recently rumored to be The Coalition’s next project after another game was shelved, and a reasonable guess is that one of the main writers from the original trilogy is back to continue the story of the ruthless war on Sera.
