We have already heard whispers that a new version of Metal Gear Solid 3 will be presented next week during the Playstation Showcase. But according to the industrial scientist Jez Corden there are bigger underlying news surrounding the game than that. Sony is said to have secured exclusivity with Konami specifically for both Metal Gear, Silent Hill and the long-rumored new Castlevania game. Something that had obviously complemented Sony’s already extremely strong catalog of exclusives.
Now, of course, these could also be time-limited exclusives as well, but any way we spin it, it’s all potentially a big win for Sony. Especially in the wake of Microsoft’s controversial acquisition of Activision Blizzard, with all that could or will mean for future games from those developers.
What is your view on exclusives, is it something that benefits or hurts the industry?
