MADRID, 5 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Russian Ministry of Defense reported this Saturday the deployment of one of its Su-30 combat aircraft after identifying a US reconnaissance drone over the Black Sea.

“The crew of the Russian combat aircraft identified the air target as a US Air Force MQ-9A Reaper reconnaissance UAV,” the Ministry said in a statement collected by Interfax.

“As a Russian fighter approached, the foreign reconnaissance UAV made a U-turn (180º) from the state border of the Russian Federation,” the statement added.

The Russian plane returned “safely and safely to its base airfield, without violating the state border of the Russian Federation”, after an operation “in strict accordance with international regulations for the use of airspace over neutral waters in compliance with the measures of security”.

This incident takes place in a context marked by the two recent attacks suffered by notable Russian vessels in just 24 hours. On Friday Russia denounced an attack on the Russian assault ship ‘Olenegorski Gorniak’ and this morning there was an attack on an oil tanker also in the Black Sea.
