Russia threatens to bomb British military equipment in Ukraine and beyond

MOSCOW.- The Russian government threatened this Monday to bomb “any British military installation or equipment in Ukrainian territory and beyond” if kyiv uses “British weapons” to attack Russian territory.

The Russian Foreign Ministry also indicated that it “warned” the United Kingdom ambassador in Moscow, Nigel Casey, of this, whom Moscow summoned after statements by British Foreign Minister David Cameron, about “Ukraine’s right to attack Russian territory with British weapons.

These statements “directly contradict the guarantees given by the British side during the delivery of long-range missiles to Ukraine,” according to which these would not be used against “Russian territory,” the ministry said.

“The ambassador was invited to reflect on the catastrophic consequences of the hostile measures adopted by London” and to refute Cameron’s statements, the Russian Foreign Ministry added in a statement.

Shortly before, Russia announced that President Vladimir Putin ordered nuclear exercises to be carried out “in the near future”, in response to statements by leaders of Western powers about the possibility of sending soldiers to Ukraine.

Since the start of the conflict in Ukraine, in February 2022, Putin has put the possibility of resorting to nuclear weapons on the table several times.
