Russia’s governor in the southern Ukrainian region of Kherson has denied information from a US think tank that Ukrainian troops have taken up positions on the east bank of the Dnipro River.
This is not the case, Wladimir Saldo wrote on Telegram. “Our military completely controls the territory.” It could happen that enemy sabotage groups translate and take selfies “before they are destroyed or pushed into the water by our fighters”.
The US-based Institute for the Study of War (ISW), citing Russian military bloggers, said Ukraine had taken up positions on the east bank of the Dnipro. However, it is not clear to what extent and with what intentions. A spokesman for the southern Ukrainian military command would neither confirm nor deny the information provided by the institute.
