The Samsung Galaxy S23 was first introduced with the “Image Clipper” function, which cuts out an object from a photo or video. The feature was introduced to older Galaxy flagships last month, but now it’s making its way to the mid-range with the Galaxy A53.

“Image Clipper” clipping tool now also for the Galaxy A53

Similar to Apple’s “Remove Background” feature in iOS 16’s Gallery, Samsung’s “Image Clipper” also cuts out subjects from photos and creates new ones with a transparent background. The images can then be easily copied and attached to documents and messages, or shared separately with others.

Like SamMobile reported, Samsung has released a new software update for the Galaxy A53 (test) in Europe. The firmware version supposedly adds the “Image Clipper” tool to the device. After the update, users can test the feature by going to the gallery and selecting an image with recognizable themes. You can read our “Image Clipper” guide here.

Which Galaxy smartphones have the image clipper function?

It is not clear when the update will be released in other countries or which other Galaxy A models will be supported later. Aside from the Galaxy A53, Samsung will likely enable the feature on the Samsung Galaxy A54 as well, and possibly the Galaxy A34 as well. More importantly, the device runs the latest One UI 5.1. In addition to the Galaxy A53 and Galaxy S23 series, the “Image Clipper” is also available for the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S21, Galaxy S22, Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy Z Fold 2 and later foldable models (including flip models). .
