Jadon Sancho’s long period of suffering could have officially come to an end this Sunday afternoon against Leicester City. Because the smile of the gifted, but hitherto unhappy Englishman is back. About two weeks ago, the offensive player was back in the Manchester United matchday squad for the first time since his break due to mental problems.
In today’s home game against the Foxes, Sancho started for coach Erik ten Hag’s team for the second time in a row and thanked the Dutchman for his trust. Led by arguably the best Marcus Rashford of all time, the Red Devils took a 2-0 lead after his brace.
In the 61st minute, however, Sancho put the final point. After a counterattack, Sancho played a one-two with Bruno Fernandes and completed the attack with a powerful left-footed shot to make it 3-0.
The lightness is back
After scoring his first league goal since September, the Englishman acted with the ease on the pitch that Bundesliga fans were used to from their days in Dortmund. Accompanied by the applause of the spectators, Sancho danced his opponents in rows with a lot of playfulness and joy, as if all the burden from the past months had fallen off. It would be desirable for the 85 million purchase after two years of suffering.
