Sandra Maischberger was born in Munich in 1966, then moved to Italy. She lived in Frascati near Rome until she was eight.

She passed her Abitur in Munich. She dropped out of a degree in communication sciences at the University of Munich after three days. To do this, she joined the radio station Bayern 2 as a moderator, initially working for the city newspaper in Munich, the Musikexpress and the SWF3.

She did her training as an editor at the German School of Journalism in Munich.

She came to Bayerischer Rundfunk in 1989 via the television station Tele 5, where she worked in the news department, as a presenter of a morning magazine and the talk show “Live aus dem Schlachthof”. Here she succeeded Günther Jauch.

This was followed by talk shows such as “Talk im Turm” (Sat.1, 1991), “0137” (Premiere, 1992), “FreitagNacht” (Vox, 1996), “Greenpeace TV” (RTL, 1997) and “Maischberger” (n -tv, 2000)

Her most successful program has been running on ARD since September 2003 – “Menschen bei Maischberger”, a classic talk show that started as the successor format to “Boulevard Bio”. Since the end of 2015 the show has been called “Maischberger” and since May 2022 “Maischberger” has even been broadcast twice a week.

private life

Maischberger has been married to cameraman Jan Kerhart from Czechoslovakia since 1994, so his silver wedding anniversary is already behind him. The couple lives in Berlin. Since February 2007 a son was born.

Maischberger says the following about their marriage:

… when I got married, I expected it to last. After all, you make a promise and then you try to make it happen together.
