15 percent discount on traffic and speed camera warnings

You don’t know Saphe yet? No problem. The gadget has already been discussed in detail at iTopnews. We summarize the most important information again:

The starter pack consists of the actual device and two adapters for different positioning as well as a conventional micro-USB cable and adhesive tape.

The device itself has an easy-to-read 1.54-inch color display and has a built-in battery that, according to the manufacturer, lasts 100 hours before it needs to be recharged. We haven’t drained the battery yet…

What also makes the whole offer attractive is the 12-month Saphe Premium subscription, which you automatically receive when you purchase it.

The first commissioning

This worked quickly and without any problems. The installation of the 59.5 x 36 x 15 millimeter and 115 gram small box is quick and easy thanks to an adhesive mount.

The Saphe Link app is loaded on the iPhone, an account is created, and the pairing takes place via Bluetooth between the iPhone and the Saphe. Requirement is iOS 14.0 or newer.

Saph Link

Many settings can be made in the app itself. The menu item “Sounds and warning signals” is very extensive and leaves no questions unanswered.

Mobile speed cameras, stationary speed cameras, route radar, traffic light speed cameras, radar and red light surveillance cameras, speed camera distance, accident, car in the emergency lane, danger, traffic jams and even the speed assistant: everything can be adjusted according to your preferences.

You can always select or deselect whether the smartphone should also receive a notification.

In practice – these are our experiences

In practice we were not disappointed. The handling is very simple. The Warner automatically receives updates and alerts in real time, so you are always up to date. This is particularly helpful at the end of traffic jams and accidents, as these are often reported far too late. Of course, the Saphe gets all its data from the smartphone, which must always be connected via Bluetooth during use.

The current speed and the speed limit as well as the distance to the danger in meters are shown on the display (always-on). When it comes to speed, you always have to keep in mind that there is a difference of 3 to 4 km/h.

A small caveat: Unfortunately, the display is quite reflective in direct sunlight. There is also the option of having everything displayed on your smartphone – or on the car display via Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.

Something else we noticed

The warning tones are very loud and therefore easily noticeable even at high speeds.

If you turn off the car, the connection is automatically disconnected and the device goes into standby mode. The gadget can also be switched off completely. To do this, simply press the red button for a longer period of time and the Saphe will then shut down completely.

What else is important? The Saphe also has two buttons. By pressing the red button with the warning triangle you can create a warning message about accidents; by pressing the blue button you will receive a warning message from a speed camera. The Saphe Drive Pro in Germany receives traffic warnings from Blitzer.de and of course from every Saphe user who reports a danger.

The connection to the smartphone is established automatically. There are no complicated steps when getting in and you can drive off straight away.

The overall conclusion

After the free year, the Saphe Premium subscription costs 2.99 euros per month or 29.99 euros annually. If you’re not a fan of subscriptions, you have the option of switching to the Saphe Drive Mini, which comes with no obligation to subscribe.

You have the option of using Saphe as navigation with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. In addition, Saphe states that you can be sure that your device is always fully updated.

The voice output was carried out cleanly via the loudspeaker system. This is of course also important and contributes to the very good overall impression.

Conclusion: During our tests in Berlin traffic, we were reliably warned about danger spots on a daily basis. Saphe Drive Pro has been very supportive.

Is Saphe even legal?

The device is legal if speed camera warnings are disabled. However, general warnings about dangerous areas and speeding are permitted under German law.
