The authors of the amateur makeover have in fact announced that they have received a Cease & Desist from the offices of Capcomwhose leaders have decided to block the project. Initially, the group working on the remake explained, the Japanese company had asked – in an extremely polite manner – various details relating to the process of making the Fan Remake of Resident Evil: Code Veronica. Specifically, the authors explain, Capcom wanted more information on the sources used by fans for the development of models and animations.

Afterwards, Briins and Matt Croft they received an initial message informing them of the need to suspend work. Subsequently, a second department of Capcom reached out to the team and, in a more rigid tone, confirmed that the Fan Remake represented a copyright infringement Of Resident Evil. With the message, Capcom intimated it stop development of the remake of Resident Evil: Code Veronica and the closure of the website dedicated to it.

The stop comes rather as a surprise: the start of work on the fan-made project dates back to over a year and a half ago, to the point that – as already mentioned – the authors had already managed to publish a demo of their remake of Resident Evil: Code Veronica.
