Sarah Ferguson is blunt about her opinion, making her the first member of the royal family to comment on the Sussexes.

London – You have to let Sarah Ferguson (63) do it. Hardly anyone knows the stuff that cheesy romance novels are made of better than she does. The ex-wife of Prince Andrews (64), the disgraced son of Queen Elizabeth II (96, † 2022), with whom she was married for ten years, raised two daughters and with whom she still lives, recently judged by the flower and without naming names, a clear message Megan Markle (41) and Prince Harry (38).

“You can’t sit on the fence and have one foot in and the other out”

“Well, you can’t have both. You can’t sit on the fence and have one foot in and the other out. You’re either in or you’re not,” she said The Independent. “But then don’t cry when you’re not invited to weddings,” she added, recognizing that she’s more likely to celebrate Charles III’s coronation. (74) means. You have decided to go, because go and live your new life – and stick to it,” she says, not very subtly, towards Montecito.

The Duchess of York has guest-starred on British TV show Loose Women to promote her new romance novel, A Most Intriguing Lady. During the conversation, she said she wasn’t expecting an invitation to the coronation of King Charles because you can’t have both. The Duchess made the remarks while reflecting on her own decision to leave the royal family following her split from Prince Andrew in 1992 and their subsequent divorce four years later.

Sarah Ferguson and Meghan Markle’s relationship

The British DailyTelegraph The Duchess of York said she “doesn’t know” Meghan and “hasn’t actually met her.” And that’s despite the fact that Meghan told Oprah Winfrey (69) that Sarah taught her how to curtsy before her first meeting with the late Queen. The same story was told in Harry’s book, Spare.

Meghan said in the Oprah interview: “I didn’t know I was going to meet (the Queen) until just before the meeting. We got in the car and drove to the Royal Lodge for lunch and he (Harry) said, ‘Oh, my grandmother is here, she’ll be there after church’.” Fergie ran out and asked if she knew how you curtsey. “Apparently I curtseyed very deeply, I don’t remember, and then we sat and talked,” Meghan said.

After the divorce, Sarah maintained a good relationship with the Queen

After all, Fergie was invited to Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral as she was on good terms with Her Majesty following her divorce from Andrew. Not for nothing did the deceased regent leave her beloved corgis to her after her death. Sarah Ferguson was not invited to the funeral of Prince Philip (99, † 2001) in 2021. But that was probably less due to her personality than to the Covid regulation in force at the time, according to which only 30 mourners were allowed to be invited. But it’s also true that Philip’s enthusiasm for the redhead diminished significantly once it was revealed that she was having affairs. According to Royal author Ingrid Seward, he once advised the Duchess to “go to a nunnery or a madhouse”.

The Duchess said she wanted to watch the coronation on TV, hang up some flags and enjoy “a little tea room and a coronation chicken sandwich”. Although she is no longer married to Andrew, she is still allowed to refer to herself as the Duchess of York. If she ever remarries, she will lose that title. That’s why she can’t understand the discussion about the duke’s title with Harry and Meghan. Sarah is consistent: “I’m divorced from him (Andrew), so I have no expectations. You can’t have both. You can’t be divorced and say ‘I want this’”. Sources used: news.com.au, telegraph.co.uk, independent.co.uk
