Huub Stevens is retiring from football coaching. As the 69-year-old revealed to the ‘Express’, he will now be in football retirement: “I’ll be 70 this year, my coaching career is definitely over”said the coach of the century at FC Schalke 04. Although there would have been a coaching position for him in the Netherlands, Stevens could do it “to my family […] not responsible.”

A recently diagnosed pericarditis finally persuaded him to stop: “That was a clear sign”. In the Bundesliga, Stevens coached VfB Stuttgart and Schalke 04, among others, he won the DFB Cup twice with the Royal Blues (2001, 2002) and was the UEFA Cup winner (1997).
