The Ministry of Transportation of the province of Buenos Aires will join the Unified Scoring System for driver’s licenses launched by the national government and the National Road Safety Agency (ANSV). In that framework, The Buenos Aires authorities announced that there will be a series of tax benefits for those who do not suffer the removal of points, which include discounts in the payment of the patent, in the process of renewing the license and even in updating the Vehicle Technical Verification (VTV)..

“We work every day to generate a cultural change that saves lives, we are not interested in launching collection measures”said the holder of the Buenos Aires portfolio, Jorge D’Onofriowho also stressed the importance of rewarding “people who comply with traffic regulations, get into a vehicle and take care of both their lives and that of pedestrians.”

For his part, the executive director of the ANSV, Pablo Martinez Carignano, highlighted the importance of Buenos Aires’ adherence to the national scoring since it is the district “with the largest vehicle fleet in the country and has more than five and a half million people with a valid National Driver’s License.” “We thank Governor (Axel) Kicillof and the Minister of Transportation D’Onofrio for this progress,” he celebrated and closed: “Scoring provides equity so that traffic violations are not resolved only with an economic sanction. For this reason, we also invite the City of Buenos Aires and the rest of the provinces to join a system that is for everyone”.

HOW DOES THE SCORE WORK?

The scoring system, which will come into effect within the next 90 days, grants 20 points to the National Driver’s License held by each person, which are lost when traffic offenses are committed depending on the firm resolutions issued by judicial or administrative authorities that judge them.

When all initial points are lost for the first time due to accumulated violations, the driver will be disqualified from using the vehicle for 60 days. If it occurs for the second time, the term will increase to 120 days and, if necessary, on a third occasion it will be for 180 days. Then the period of disqualification will be successively doubled.

Once this period of disqualification ends, the points can be recovered and the license restored by taking road safety courses, while professional drivers can resort to this option on an annual basis. The course, which consists of an evaluative instance, is oriented towards awareness and its objective is to modify risky attitudes for a healthy coexistence in the public space, as a reeducation instance that appeals to the understanding of the possible harmful results that driving implies. of a vehicle.
