Mexico City.- Sean Penn premiered his documentary Superpower at the 73rd Berlin Film Festival, earning him a standing ovation.

The film narrates the horrors of the war in Ukraine and includes an interview with the president of that nation: Volodymyr Zelensky, at the crucial moment of the armed conflict.

“In the nearly two-hour-long film, produced by Vice, Penn highlights America’s shortcomings in supporting Ukraine in the war.

Growing increasingly comfortable with the Oscar-winning actor in a series of interviews, Zelenskyy reveals his frustrations over the lack of support in the form of high-impact weapons received from the Biden administration.

After the premiere, Penn held a session in which he made clear his position on the actions of the US government and his little real support for Ukraine.

“It’s not so much what happens if Ukraine loses, because it won’t, but if Russia wins, we’re all screwed. Just screwed.

“As Americans, I can say that we’re going to have to take a level of shame for not expanding guns sooner,” he said.

Superpower is one of the biggest world premieres secured this year by Berlin artistic director Carlo Chatrian.
