For Federico González, Minister of the Interior, a holiday declaration on August 14 will not change the coverage that is already planned for the eve of the presidential handover. However, it was the same Police who made this recommendation/request to the Executive to lighten the work in the microcenter.
This Tuesday, August 15, a holiday for the Asunción Foundation, the transfer ceremony will be held in which Mario Abdo Benítez will hand over the presidential baton to Santiago Peña.
However, andhe operation will begin on Friday night, taking into account the extensive coverage that the arrival of almost a hundred foreign delegations will imply. Due to the magnitude, the Asunción Police Directorate itself had asked the Executive to decree a holiday from Tuesday the 14th at noon, a request that was not echoed.
On the point, the Minister of the Interior, Federico González, was consulted, who minimized the refusal and considered that this provision is not necessary.
“I think it does not affect, the Police work every day, with or without holidays, so security is planned, it has been working for a long time, with intelligence information, with street operations and the Police are aware of which is a challenge as always, but it is prepared and the fact that it is a holiday or not does not alter the preparation at all”said González, in contact with the media.

The Crio. Rubén Paredes, director of the Asunción Police, revealed that 2,500 policemen who provide services in the interior will come to the Capital to cooperate with the coverage. He also explained how a holiday would help.
“We suggest that Monday the 14th be a holiday at noon, so that the traffic is less and avoid inconvenience, taking into account the responsibility we have”, he expressed in an interview with Gen-Nación Media.
He indicated that public institutions are the ones that have the most activities in the microcenter, therefore, with the holiday it will be enough to achieve this reduction.
The operation will involve the Municipal Traffic Police, the Military Forces, the Highway Patrol, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Health.
It will start in Luque, at the Silvio Pettirossi airport, it will continue on the highway, the Bourbon hotel and the downtown hotels. The Costanera will be blocked on both sides.
