On Monday, UN editor Magdalena Raos invited representatives of all political parties to a panel discussion on “Vorarlberg LIVE”.

Green club chairwoman Eva Hammerer sums it up at the end of Vorarlberg LIVE: “We’re already at the negotiating table again.” As far as the reform of the rules of procedure for committees of inquiry in the Vorarlberg state parliament is concerned, she is now more optimistic again: “I see movement.”

She reiterated her desire for a solution to the standoff regarding the control of file deliveries. The ÖVP would like to have this competence settled with the Ombudsman and the Court of Auditors, the opposition with the State Administrative Court.

There is a good reason for that, says SPÖ executive club chairwoman Manuela Auer: “We definitely want the opportunity to go to a higher authority – to a court.” Although she admitted that the ÖVP was willing to compromise on some points, for example with regard to media publicity, this was not an end in itself: “It is a service to democracy.”

ÖVP club boss Roland Breakfast sees it that way too. But he can’t imagine agreeing to change the constitution only with the Greens: “Why should we decide something that the minority doesn’t want?”

Meanwhile, Christof Bitschi (FPÖ) emphasizes that the opposition has created a “acid test”: “With this, everyone can prove how important transparency is to them.” She wants to submit the result of the negotiations – including judicial dispute settlement – as an application. And Sabine Scheffknecht (Neos) argues similarly, especially in the direction of the Greens: “The governing parties will have to show their colors.”

The broadcast “Vorarlberg LIVE” is a cooperation between VOL.AT, VN.at, Ländle TV and VOL.AT TV and is broadcast from Monday to Friday from 5 p.m. There’s more here.
