The group led by Dave Grohl, bereaved in March 2022 by the death of its drummer Taylor Hawkins, promises its fans to find them “soon”.

“His spirit will be with us every night.” The Foo Fighters published a message on December 31 suggesting a return to the stage, nine months after the disappearance of Taylor Hawkins. The drummer, who died in March 2022 before a concert in Bogota, had been part of the group since 1997.

In this press release published on Twitter, the group led by Dave Grohl pays tribute to the musician, but also to the public, who supported him and whom he promises to find again soon.

“The most difficult and tragic year”

“We know that you, the fans, were as important to Taylor as he was to you. And we know that when we see you again – and we will soon – he will be there, in spirit, with all of us, every evening”, they write as well.

The group had announced after the death of their drummer the cancellation of his world tour and did not appear at the Grammy Awardson April 3, where he won three new awards.

And if they organized several concerts in tribute to their missing friend, the Foo Fighters had not communicated on the rest of their existence. This message, if it evokes “the most difficult and tragic year that our group has ever known”, nevertheless gives hope to the fans.

“The Foo Fighters formed 27 years ago, to symbolize the healing power of music and the carrying on of life. And over the past 27 years, our fans have built a global community, support system faithful, who helped us all through the most difficult times together”, recall the musicians.

Dave Grohl, former drummer of Nirvana, whose singer Kurt Cobain committed suicide on April 5, 1994, founded the Foo Fighters the same year, with bassist Nate Mendel and drummer William Goldsmith, soon joined by Pat Smear, guitarist of the Nirvana tours.
