Mexico City.- Once the United States Government has decided to go against the international network for the production and trafficking of fentanyl, operated by the Sinaloa Cartel, it is up to the Administration of Andrés Manuel López Obrador to cooperate and accept the problem that exists in Mexico, they demanded. senators from the PRD, PAN and Grupo Plural.

They considered that the Executive can no longer fall into the “absurd” of denying the production of the drug, because that worsens the problem and generates tensions with the Biden administration.

According to the actions undertaken by the US, the children of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán obtain the substances to manufacture the drug, traffic it, commit acts of violence to control the market and launder money from the proceeds.

Sinaloa is the entity where they mostly act to establish the laboratories.

After infiltrating the organization, 28 people were identified in the illegal acts, which operate internationally.

PRD Senator Miguel Ángel Mancera stressed that Mexico must request the information collected by the DEA and use it to carry out a mirror investigation, with the intention of establishing responsibilities against the leaders of the Cartel.

“If there are US records of the evidence of the operation in Mexico, the information should be shared with our government and with these records we start the corresponding investigation folders, because it is a bilateral problem.

“If they are accusing a Mexican criminal organization, the crime begins in Mexico, has effects in the US, but has its beginning and execution phases in our country, that is necessary to have solid accusations in both countries, I would almost say that we should make a mirror accusation in Mexico with the US records,” Mancera said.

Regarding the refusal of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador to accept production in Mexico, he pointed out that this is no longer possible.

“It is no longer possible to say that it is not an issue, each time they make it clearer in the US that the problem is present and we cannot close our eyes, it is documented,” said Mancera.

The former head of government of Mexico City pointed out that the corresponding actions must be taken, such as, for example, prohibiting the substances that are used as fentanyl precursors and increasing the penalties for counterfeiting drugs to be able to traffic this chemical.

The senator of the Plural Group, Emilio Álvarez Icaza, stated that the United States is demonstrating with the complaint against “Los Chapitos” that it is taking its national security agenda to another level, as a priority that reaches global levels.

For this reason, he said, it would be expected that the Mexican government would have greater cooperation.

He stressed that this is why the statements of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, who deny the production of fentanyl, are surprising, when in his Security Cabinet the laboratories and scope of trafficking are accepted and known.

“We are facing a global-scope operation against the criminal structure, it is President Joe Biden’s highest security priority, which is why López Obrador’s denial is very surprising, which makes the problem even greater.

“Sometimes the president has a schizophrenic agenda with the United States, he fights, applauds officials, sends messages of conflict in the morning, this type of attitude baffles everyone and everyone.

“While the US has decided to go against production, trafficking and its consequences, it is not understood that López Obrador denies the problem, it is absurd,” Álvarez Icaza remarked.

PAN Senator Kenia López also warned that there must be cooperation instead of denial on the real problem of fentanyl.

“The government’s discourse on trying to cover the sun with one finger and affirming that fentanyl is not produced in Mexico is disconcerting, when it is clear that said opioid is produced in Mexico.

“Perhaps the Mexican president believes that, as he has repeated over and over again since his morning, the crime situation in the country will change, but this is not the case. Both governments must put a stop to this painful situation,” he said.

He criticized that it is the US government that once again shows the reality of what is happening in Mexico, because the López Obrador administration has not done so.
