FC Augsburg secures the services of midfield talent Renato Veiga. As the Fuggerstädter officially announce, the 19-year-old Portuguese comes on loan from the youth team at Sporting Lisbon. The guest performance, which is scheduled for one year, can be converted into a permanent commitment via a purchase option.
“Of course, I’ve been following the Bundesliga for a long time as one of the top leagues in Europe. That’s why I’m happy that I’m getting the chance to show what I can do at FCA. FCA have a coach who focuses on young players and I am convinced that this is exactly the right step for me at the right time.”Veiga says.
Stefan Reuter explains: “Renato Veiga is a flexible defensive player who strengthens our squad with his height, his duel and his strong left foot. He looks very mature for his age, it’s not for nothing that he’s the captain of the Portuguese U20 national team. Nevertheless, we want to give him the necessary time during his one-year loan and give him the best possible support so that he can reach his full potential.”
According to the Portuguese media, Augsburg will initially transfer 500,000 to Lisbon as a rental fee. A purchase in the summer will add six million euros. So far, Veiga has not had any professional use. That should change in the Bundesliga. However, it remains to be seen how many there will be.
