The emergency services have previously warned that the hot weather and dry ground can lead to grass fires – therefore a fire ban has been introduced in the county.
That’s why it didn’t come as a shock when, at around 3pm on Sunday, a large forest – almost like a football field – started to burn in Hågadalen-Nåsten.
– We are there and extinguishing, but luckily it is not windy today, which means that there is no risk of spreading, says Marie Nordahl, management operator at Räddningscentral mitt.
Another fire shortly later
An hour later, it was the forest area in Fageruddsåsen outside Enköping that was ravaged by fire.
– It is a small area, about 15 by 15 meters and is located 200 meters from the car park from where the public raised the alarm.
There is a fire ban – has it been violated in these cases?
– Not that we know, now the cause of the fires is unknown. But since it is out in the terrain, I don’t think it has been set on fire by any human, says Marie Nordahl.
– There is gunpowder in the ground.
