Severe storm leaves flooding and downed trees in Philadelphia

Severe storms continued to batter the Philadelphia region with lightning and flooding overnight. Severe weather is expected to continue through Tuesday.

The Telemundo 62 weather team issued an alert for the entire Philadelphia region for downpours that could cause flooding, strong winds and small hail this Tuesday.

Until this morning, drivers were dealing with flooded roads and downed trees.

On University Avenue near 34th Street, some truckers went through floodwater, which is not recommended.

Philadelphia, the surrounding suburbs, northern Delaware, Berks County and the Lehigh Valley remained under flood watches Tuesday. People along creeks and creeks in Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties are under a flood warning Tuesday morning.

Several inches of rain fell in some places as severe storms swept through the region. There are tornado warnings and heavy rain, lightning, wind and flash flood warnings in place for most of our area overnight.

Hail even fell during the storms on Monday.

The storms brought lightning, thunder, heavy rain and gusty winds to most of the region overnight and even caused trees to fall in parts of our area.
