MIAMI.- Shakira continues adding musical performances in successful sporting events. On July 9, the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) confirmed that the singer from Barranquilla will perform at the closing of the longest-running national team tournament in the history of football.

In the image, Shakira can be seen in the centre, with the great figures from Argentina, Canada, Colombia and Uruguay, countries competing for a place in the championship’s grand final, behind her.
Alejandro Domínguez, president of CONMEBOL, said in a press release that the artist’s selection was based on the Latin American singer’s significance in the global music industry.
“Shakira is an extraordinary South American star who has dazzled the entire world. Her songs are sung and danced to in every corner of the planet, turning her art into a global phenomenon that crosses borders and is enjoyed by millions of people. We are confident that her performance on the stage of the Copa América USA 2024 will reinforce the message of healthy passion and unity through sport.”
