Shark washes ashore on South Beach

The recording was made from a boat, where several people can be heard talking while laughing. “I can’t believe it,” a woman says at the end.

Dozens of Internet users commented on the publication, some were very amazed and described it as shocking to see such a large shark so close to the shore.

“It looks like a tiger shark chasing a turtle carcass,” said one.

“I’ve lived in Florida my whole life and I’ve never seen so many sharks come to shore before… What’s going on,” one woman asked.

“That’s exactly what I’m thinking. I’ve never seen this before. Now it’s at least once a week!” another agreed.

In recent times it has become common to encounter sharks on the coasts of Florida, where they even approach people and mix with them.

In January, three hammerhead sharks caused stupor when they reached the shore of the beach on Anna María Island​a barrier island located off the coast of Manatee County.

Without believing what they saw, the bathers enjoyed the spectacle of the three sharks flapping at their feet.

“FGCU experts say the sharks are probably feeding on tarpon, bringing them so close to shore,” one witness said online.

Some Internet users commented in the publication that the animals probably came there because they were hunting rays.

A young woman who claimed to be a certified diver said that they were very aggressive species.

Last September, in Miami Beach, vacationers experienced a great surprise when they witnessed the fight between two sharks, one of them hammerhead, a few meters from the shore.

On June 28, 2023, a Fort Lauderdale woman followed by hammerhead shark while paddling on board paddle surfing off the coast of South Florida, while participating in a charity race for cystic fibrosis.
