Marita Sikku’s horse was to be shod by farriers and she was to fetch her horse, Eldfim from the pasture outside Kiruna. When she got closer, she saw that the horses had a baby deer next to them.
– I was very upset and thought the cub had been abandoned, but saw the mother running in the woods outside the pasture. I don’t know how the kid managed to enter the horse paddock, writes Marita Sikku in a text message.
She continues:
– I carefully lifted the kid out of the paddock, so that it wouldn’t get trampled. But it just wanted to go back into the paddock.
In the pictures, the horses seem to be very caring, what did the horses do to the kid?
– The horses were very careful with the little one. Eldfim seemed to have maternal feelings and I could barely get her out of the paddock.
How did the deer hunt go?
– I was back and was going to see how the kid was doing, then I saw that there were three of them in the forest!
“Nature is a nursery right now”
– I’m glad I didn’t have my dog loose at the time, because now the whole of nature is a nursery right now.
