In the middle of a ritual with flowers, copal and corn, Sheinbaum Pardo received the cane and a flower crown from Grandma Amalia Salas, originally from the town of Caltongo, Xochimilco mayor’s office, who said:
“She is going to make the commitment that no woman has had the courage to do… I ask that this great woman become president, who has shown with her work that she has been a fighting woman who has dedicated herself day and night to work.”
