One question completely threw candidate Evangelos Polichronidis on Monday. Günther Jauch also caused a stir in the WWM studio.
Rappers are actually considered to be particularly cool and hard-nosed, but Evangelos Polichronidis blushed when asked “Who wants to be a millionaire?”. The 44-year-old, who was successful with the Creutzfeld & Jakob duo in the late 1990s, made it to Günther Jauch’s council chair on Monday evening.
For 1,000 euros, the moderator wanted to know: “What does the same animal mean – although one name suggests an insect and the other a mammal? A) velvet bug & pocket beaver, B) corduroy tick & bag mouse, C) wool flea & bag hare or D ) pubic louse & sack rat”
At the last possible answer, Evangelos Polichronidis burst into an embarrassed giggle. “Wow, sack rat – isn’t that a swear word?” he asked. “I don’t know from which context you know that,” countered Jauch, but only unsettled the candidate even more. “I can’t see the forest for the trees,” admitted the 44-year-old, preferring to use a joker.
Jauch shows viewers: “I want names and chairs”
The audience voted 75 percent for answer D. “There’s an animal called a sack rat? Really?!” the rapper marveled. Günther Jauch, on the other hand, was surprised about something completely different. “Tell me who ticked the pocket beaver,” he turned to the director and demanded: “I want to know names and chairs!” The wanted person preferred to volunteer – and had an excuse ready: “I held the voting machine the wrong way round.”
This caused laughter from the audience and presenter. “Well, we have to accept that. Nobody has come up with the idea yet. That gets you out of the game,” grinned the WWM host. Meanwhile, the penny finally dropped for Evangelos Polichronidis. “Now I get it! I was just so shocked by this obscenity,” he emphasized, still shaking his head in disbelief, and finally chose answer D.
Günther Jauch explained that the sack rat, a “louse that mainly attaches itself to the pubic hair of humans and whose bites cause severe itching”, has now given him 1,000 euros. In the end, the candidate went home with 32,000 euros.
