After the racist attack targeting a Kurdish cultural centre, the Minister of Justice will receive representatives of the Kurdish community to assure them of his solidarity.

In order to ensure his solidarity with the Kurds, the Minister of Justice, Éric Dupond-Moretti, will receive this Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m., representatives of the community, according to information from BFMTV.

Already on Friday, the day of the attack which left three dead and three injured, the Keeper of the Seals transmitted, via Twitter, “all [s]I think of the victims of the terrible shooting in Paris and their loved ones”.

An investigation has been opened by the Paris prosecutor’s office for assassinations, attempted assassinations, violence with weapons and violations of the legislation on weapons. The main suspect was arrested shortly after the shooting, claiming an act committed against a background of racism.

His police custody was extended this Saturday and the advisability of seizing the national anti-terrorist prosecution of these facts will have to be debated in view of the disturbance and terror caused to public order.

“Terrorist and political character”

This Saturday morning, representatives of the Kurdish community were received by the Paris police chief, Laurent Nunez. At the end of this meeting, Agit Polat, spokesperson for the Kurdish Democratic Council in France (CDKF), declared that the deadly attack in a cultural center should be equated with “political assassinations”.

“The fact that our associations are targeted is of a terrorist and political nature,” he said.

Agit Polat also regretted a “lack of security” at the scene of the shootings, whose security is “under the responsibility of the French authorities”.
