Last year it was announced that the Bloober Team is working on a Silent Hill 2 remake exclusive to PlayStation 5, but some fans had worried that the studio was going to modify the history of the Konami classic. In a new interview, the chief marketing officer at Bloober Team confirmed that this will not be the case.

In an interview for the site DreadXP, Anna Jasinska confirmed that Bloober Team does not intend to change the original story of Silent Hill 2 in its remake, which will arrive exclusively on PlayStation 5 and possibly arrive on PC a year later. Instead, the studio is focusing on improving the game’s graphics and gameplay to make it feel like a true next-gen experience.

Fans of yesteryear need not worry that [Bloober Team] ‘miss the point’Jasinska said, noting that they are going to stay true to the canon story while redoing the gameplay of Silent Hill 2. Also, the remake will have very good graphics, since it is being developed with Unreal Engine 5.

Among the changes that we will see in the Silent Hill 2 remake that Bloober Team is making is the camera, because this time it will be positioned on the character’s shoulder and will give us a better perspective of the scenarios. Also, the combat system was redone, so overall the game will feel better than the original Silent Hill 2 installment.

Jasinska explains that they are looking for a way to implement what distinguished the original concept for a contemporary audience, because although they will remain faithful to the original title, they will apply adjustments in some areas “that need modernization due to the passage of time.”

In that same interview, Anna Jasinska said that Bloober Team feels a lot of pressure with the Silent Hill 2 remake, because they know the importance of the game and they know that fans have high expectations of their work.
