Here the music is playing again…

The tenth season of “Sing meine Song” started on Tuesday evening. In the Vox show, Germany’s best-known musicians cover each other’s songs. Already at the start all dams broke with “Silbermond” frontwoman Stefanie Kloß (38).

In addition to host Johannes Oerding (41), the musician is one of the repeat offenders at the anniversary. This is her second time here. Likewise her colleagues Clueso (43), Nico Santos (30) and LEA (30). Only rapper Montez (29) and indie pop singer Alli Neumann (27) make their debut on the show.

The first episode was all about “Silvermoon”. Between the songs, Stefanie told beautiful and sad things from the past few years. Clueso chose her hit “Light Luggage”. For them a special number that stands for a turning point in the band’s history. “Silbermond” had produced three successful albums by then.

Stefanie: “Then we actually made the fourth record a bit like we were in a trance and actually noticed a bit that we forgot to press the stop button and to see if it was all good for us.” That At that time, the quartet had to deal more with bureaucratic matters than with music. A situation that nobody liked.

The band was even close to the end, as Stefanie continues. “We were faced with the decision: either we can manage to make the backpack a little lighter, or we’ll stop.”

Clueso was once in a similar dilemma when he wanted to record the album “Handbaggage”, even parting ways with his record company and long-time employees in order to be artistically free again. One reason why he wanted to perform Stefanie’s song that evening.

When he sang, she had pee in her eyes for the first time. Later even tears rolled down. It was about her late father, to whom she dedicated the song “In my memory”.

Stefanie: “I lost him when I was 18. That was just before I graduated. And it shapes you a lot.” She had the feeling that she had to grow up faster than she wanted. As the singer sees a snippet of the video, she begins to cry.

She says about her dad that he was “an absolute doer”. Stefanie, who grew up in the small Saxon town of Bautzen: “Whenever there was something going on at Kloßes, we all met in the yard.” After her father’s death, her sister took out a loan to be able to keep the house . The musician: “That’s why we can go in there with our kids today.”

Johannes Oerding sang the song for her dad on the show and thus provided the musical emotional highlight. You could see how deeply his performance touched Stefanie every second. The others felt the same way. Kloß then let the host elicit a few words about her little son, who was born in 2018.

Oerding: “What memories do you want your child to have of you later?” Stefanie smiling: “Just like I think of my mother. She’s a cool aunt.” And: “I would think it would be cool if my son later said: ‘Hey, my mother was fine.'”

After that, Stefanie introduced a new “Silbermond” song. She wrote “Hey Ma” for her mother. In the end, the musician chose rapper Montez, who had opened the evening with “Exactly”, as the winner of the exchange concert.
