Six dead when plane crashes and catches fire in California

MURRIETA — Six people died when a tree fell and burst into flames. plane light jet over a field in southern California on Saturday.

The police officers who came to the scene found the plane and the surrounding vegetation engulfed in flames. The accident occurred near an airport in the city of Murrieta, California, located in the southwest of the state between The Angels y San Diego.

The flight had departed from Las Vegas’ Harry Reid International Airport, broadcaster KTLA reported. It was a Cessna C550 corporate jet, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

The six occupants of the aircraft were pronounced dead at the scene shortly after authorities found the burning plane around 4:15 a.m., the Riverside County Fire Department said. The identity of the victims was not released.

The National Transportation Safety Board and the FAA are investigating the crash.

It was the second fatal plane crash near French Valley Airport in Riverside County. One man was killed and three injured when a plane crashed into the side of a building near the airport on Tuesday.
