NEW YORK – Mark Zuckerberg, one of the founders of Facebook and chief executive of Meta, said in recent hours on Instagram that he is ready to fight Elon Musk, owner of Twitter, after the Tesla chief executive joked about the idea of a mixed martial arts (MMA) cage match between the two.
“Send me the location,” Zuckerberg (39 years old) wrote in his story about a screenshot of Musk’s tweet.
After this story was published, Musk (51 years old) responded with two words: “Vegas Octagon”, in what seems like a joke to propose a specific place for the fight.
In a second tweet, Musk said he has a tactic called “The Walrus.” “I just lie on top of my opponent and do nothing,” he explained.
Zuckerberg’s technique seems to be more sophisticated, since a few days ago he shared a video on his networks in which he himself was training with the black belt in jiu-jitsu Mikey Musumeci. “Starting to prepare for our MMA (mixed martial arts) debut,” Zuckerberg noted in the post.
The message between these two billionaires comes after it was leaked in the specialized press that the technology giant Meta (parent company of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp) is creating a social network to compete with Twitter and has the idea of launching it “as soon as can”.
In an internal meeting, Meta product manager Chris Cox called the new platform, which Meta has been working on since January, its “answer to Twitter” and said it will use Instagram’s account system to auto-complete the information from a user, according to The Verge.
The internal name of the social network is “Project 92”, and its public name could be “Threads” (threads, in English), according to internal documents that the outlet was able to access.
